Duval County Tax Collector Selects TaxSys

July 08, 2020
Duval County Tax Collector selects TaxSys for new tax collection system.

The Duval County, Florida Tax Collector's Office has officially selected TaxSys as its new tax collection and billing system. Duval County and the City of Jacksonville serve a population of more than 950,000 residents including the cities of Jacksonville Beach, Neptune Beach, Atlantic Beach, and Baldwin - and are home to the NFL Jacksonville Jaguars as well as the Timucuan Ecological and Historic Preserve.

The selection follows a competitive Request for Proposals in which the City ranked Grant Street as the highest responsive proposer.

"The tax collection and billing system is the most critical technology platform for carrying out the duties of the Tax Collector's office," said Duval County Tax Collector Jim Overton. "Grant Street performed extremely well throughout the procurement process, and I am confident their deep level of Florida property tax collection system experience will result in a smooth implementation. We look forward to a modern cloud-based solution and the benefits it will have for our customers and our operations."

Processing $23 billion a year in Florida property tax payments, TaxSys is the country's most widely used cloud-based property tax collection system. The Tax Collector's Office will also utilize Grant Street's PaymentExpress solution for e-payments and LienHub for all online delinquent real estate services, including the annual tax sale, all fully integrated with TaxSys.

"We're grateful for the opportunity to serve the Duval County Tax Collector," said Ian Yorty, Grant Street's Chief Business Development Officer. "Duval is laser-focused on improving their operations and the services they provide to the public. As a fully-hosted, cloud-based platform, TaxSys offers access and support from anywhere with an internet connection, critical for continuity of operations and delivery of essential government services. In addition, Duval will benefit from our latest initiative to make virtually every service and transaction performed by the Tax Collector available to the public online."

Duval County will become the 26th Florida county to implement TaxSys. The county's full conversion to TaxSys will be completed by July 2021.
