Jim Overton, Duval County Tax Collector
Jim Overton was elected Duval County Tax Collector in a special election in November 2018. He was re-elected to a full four-year term in March 2019. He represents Northeast Florida on the governing Board of the Florida Association of Tax Collectors. He is designated a Certified Florida Tax Collector by the Florida Department of Revenue for having completed optional coursework and continuing education as Tax Collector. He previously served as the Duval County Property Appraiser and was on the Jacksonville City Council, including a term as Council President.
Prior to public service, Overton was a business owner in electronics distribution and television production. He holds a degree in Business Administration from Washington and Lee University and a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of North Florida.
Overton is a Presbyterian, is married and has two children and two grandkids. His current civic affiliations include the Executive Board of the North Florida Council of Boy Scouts, the Rotary Club of Jacksonville, Scenic Jacksonville, YMCA Camp Immokalee, and Troop 2 BSA. He is an instrument rated private and glider pilot.
