Jim Overton, Duval County Tax Collector

 

Jim Overton was elected Duval County Tax Collector in a special election in November 2018.  He was re-elected to a full four-year term in March 2019.  He previously served as Duval County Property Appraiser for 12 years, and on the Jacksonville City Council for 10 years, including a term as Council President.

Formerly, Overton was a small business owner in electronics distribution and television production.  He holds a degree in Business Administration from Washington and Lee University and a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of North Florida.

Overton is married and has two children and one grandchild.  His current organizational affiliations include the Rotary Club of Jacksonville, several YMCA Metro Board committees, Scenic Jacksonville, the North Florida Soaring Society and Troop 2 of the Boy Scouts.  He is an instrument rated private and glider pilot.
